We have several different solar weather situations coming together late this afternoon.
We have a CIR or co-rotational interactive region moving in this afternoon.
In solar weather, the two areas clash, causing compression in our atmosphere.
They also tend to collect with them large collections of transient plasma, creating similar reactions to larger CME'S.
Then we have Solar Wind that pushes all the plasma and other things that have been caught in the CIR and moves all that straight into the planet.
Add in the coronal hole high speed streams pushing in, and you have a very special & unusual day in the energies.
