ENERGETIC SUNSPOT: Sunspot AR3288 has an unstable (Beta-Gamma-Delta) magnetic field that harbors energy for powerful X-class solar flares. Although AR3288 is capable of unleashing an X-class flare, a steady stream of weak C-class flares may be draining energy from the active region, preventing it from unleashing a more powerful flare.
This doesn’t mean that the active region won’t, but it soon will rotate off the visible disk. A Powerful explosion from the region in the next 24 hours will more than likely be geoeffective. Slight growth was observed in Regions 3288 today. Solar activity is expected to be low with a chance for M-class flares:
(R1-R2/Minor-Moderate) through 01 May. NOAA forecasters estimate a 35% chance for an M-class flare and a 5% chance for an X-class flare. Stay tuned for updates…
